I actually hate how thin is conflated with health

like sorry I was just trying to look for blogs that had great pics of food that is still super yummy but will help me lower my blood pressure & cholesterol levels. I don’t need to see pics of super skinny chicks in between for “inspiration”.

I hate how things that have healthier ingredients or less calories are called “skinny”… like if I was on a diet to try and just eat less junk, I would be trying to be healthy, not skinny. but to everyone, skinny =healthy

    -.-

right? I have to play catch up for the past 18 years of my life before college where we had ZERO nutritional education. It takes a lot of knowledge and access to be able to find creative ways to eat healthy. Or to even understand what “eating healthy” even is and what types of nutrients your body needs and how to get them.

There’s also the fact that tumblr is a poor representation of the world. To tumblr the healthy eating tag is basically a “look at how little calories I can eat in one meal” and less about “look at how I can incorporate a lot of important nutrients and vitamins in this meal in a clean, affordable and junk free way.”

I’m going to divert my healthy lifestyle searches to pinterest and stop with the tumblr foolishness. But even pinterest is an example of how these types of things/lifestyle tips are usually inaccessible to most people. I’m pretty sure Pinterest is still an invite-only (hit me up if you want one) and targeted towards a certain demographic. We need to make it so that more of these resources are open to more fucking people.

Being healthy isn’t a cute trend to market to middle/upper class college educated consumers. its a necessity everyone needs access to and education about.

idk i have a lot of opinions about this…

Tumblr is it’s own little bizzaro world in just about every way.
